LAVEEN MAN SENTENCED TO 141 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

PHOENIX – On February 12, 2007, 18-year-old Derek Pablo of Laveen, Ariz. was sentenced to 141 months prison by U.S. District Judge Stephen McNamee. Pablo had pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault and Use of a Firearm in a Crime of Violence.

Pablo was one of two men who engaged in a retaliatory drive-by shooting in Sacaton on May 23, 2006. Shots fired by Pablo hit and injured two men. The co-defendant was a juvenile.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Gila River Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The prosecution was handled by Sharon K. Sexton, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
