MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 5 YEARS IN
FEDERAL PRISON FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
PHOENIX – Kenneth Morgan, 31, of Coolidge, Ariz., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen M. McNamee to 70 months in federal prison yesterday. Morgan pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault on December 6, 2007.
On April 19, 2007, Morgan had gotten upset with his female victim (a long time friend of his) because she did not have any marijuana to give to him. Morgan then took a knife and held it to the victim’s neck. She told him, “If you are going to do it, then do it.” Morgen then stabbed her in the neck but she survived the injury.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the FBI and the Gila River Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Sharon Sexton, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
