Northern Arizona Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Second Degree Burglary

PHOENIX—Ambrose Bennett, 26, of Tonalea, Ariz., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Neil V. Wake to 27 months in federal prison for Second Degree Burglary. On July 29, 2009, Bennett pleaded guilty in federal court. 

On December 8, 2008, Bennett; co-defendant, Eric Kinney; and a juvenile, broke into a home in Kayenta, Ariz. Kinney and the juvenile threatened the victims with an axe and a knife and then the trio stole their pick-up truck. Kinney pleaded guilty to Robbery in April 2009, and was sentenced to 41 months in prison in September 2009.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Kayenta Police Department, the Kayenta Division of Criminal Investigations, the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations, the Navajo Division of Public Safety, the Navajo Division of Law Enforcement, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Christina J. Reid-Moore, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
