Mesa Man Sentenced to over Nine Years in Prison for Bank Robbery

PHOENIX, AZ—Justin Wayne Hebel, 22, of Mesa, Ariz., was sentenced on July 15th by U.S. District Judge Frederick J. Martone to 114 months in federal prison for using a gun while attempting to rob a bank. Hebel pleaded guilty on February 27, 2009 to bank robbery. On October 31, 2008, Hebel used a gun to threaten tellers at the National Bank of Arizona on Gilbert Road in Mesa in an attempt to obtain money.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the members of the FBI’s Bank Robbery Task Force comprised of FBI Special Agents, detectives from the Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix and Chandler Police Departments and deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by Roger Dokken, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
