REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF WARREN STEED JEFFS

Jana D. Monroe, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Phoenix Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced that FBI Headquarters has authorized the payment of a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Warren Steed Jeffs. This reward is an enhancement of the $10,000 reward already being offered by the Arizona State Attorney General’s Office.

Jeffs, leader of the polygamous community known as the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS), is being sought in a joint effort by the FBI, Mojave County Attorney’s Office, the Arizona State Attorney General’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office. An arrest warrant was issued by the Mohave County Attorney on June 9, 2005, charging Jeffs with sexual conduct with a minor and conspiracy to commit sexual conduct with a minor. Jeffs was subsequently charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, in a federal arrest warrant, issued by the United States Magistrate Court, District of Arizona, Flagstaff, Arizona, on June 27, 2005.

Jeffs is described as being 6’4” in height, weighing 150 lbs, and having brown colored eyes and hair. A photograph and additional information can be accessed on the FBI’s website publicizing the FBI’s most wanted at www.fbi.gov.

SAC Monroe further advised the FBI continues to actively pursue all investigative leads concerning the whereabouts of Warren Jeffs.
