Fugitive Captured

Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Phoenix Division, John E. Lewis, announced today, August 01, 2006, the capture of fugitive Murray Gibbs, age 42, who was wanted on charges of Kidnapping, Murder, and Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping and Murder.

Gibbs was wanted by Maricopa County in connection with his alleged participation in the kidnapping and murder of a Phoenix man earlier this year. Gibbs, a wanted fugitive, was located and arrested at approximately 2:00 pm on July 31, 2006. Gibbs was located in a remote area of Tonopah, Arizona where he was residing in a trailer.

Gibbs was taken into custody without incident by the Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force comprised of FBI Special Agents, Detectives from Mesa Police Department, and Detectives from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
