Tucson, Ariz. – Arizona law enforcement officials request residents statewide to mark May 25th, 2007 on their calendars to observe National Missing Children’s Day. On Friday, May 25th, at 6:00 a.m., an event will be held at Starbucks Coffee, El Con Mall, 3601 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, Arizona. From 6:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., FBI agents, Tucson Police Officers, Pima County Deputies as well as representatives of other agencies will be on hand to provide parents and children with information and tips on how to keep their children safe and how to speak to their children about safety concerns. These tips will include information on how to make sure your child is not unwittingly giving information to online predators; how to shield the identity of your child so that predators cannot lure them into a false sense of security as they will often call your child by name and act as if they are a family friend; how to let your child know predators prey on their vulnerabilities and will pretend to be their friend or confidante; how to set up "what if" situations and practice appropriate responses when approached by strangers; and how to instill confidence in your child's ability to say no to anything that would make them uncomfortable. Parents are encouraged to drive by on their way to work or while taking their children to school and obtain information. Agents, Officers, and Deputies will be available to answer questions and address parent concerns. Small gifts for children will also be available.
