PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge John E. Lewis, announced today, October 19, 2007, that the FBI is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a serial bank robber responsible for two robberies and one attempted robbery in the past seven days. On October 12, 2007, a white male attempted to rob a bank in Flagstaff, Arizona. This bank was located inside a local Flagstaff grocery store. After this attempt, on the same date at approximately 4:10 p.m., this unidentified white male successfully robbed a bank on 31 st Avenue and Carefree Highway, Phoenix, Arizona. This bank was also located inside a grocery store. On October 18, 2007 at about 11:30 a.m., it is believed this individual robbed a second bank in a local Litchfield Park grocery store at Dysart Road and Indian School Road. This subject is described as a white male, approximately 50 years old, 5’10” tall, with a medium to heavy build. He appears to have short gray hair with a small mustache. During the October 12 th robbery he was wearing a cowboy hat with a grey hooded sweat shirt. During the October 18 th robbery, he was wearing a blue and black, long sleeve windbreaker, and an orange and black San Francisco Giants baseball cap. In both robberies, the subject presented a black handgun. The FBI is working jointly with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend this subject. Anyone with information concerning these robberies or the subject pictured in bank surveillance photographs distributed with this release is urged to call the Phoenix FBI Field Division at 602-279-5511 or their local authorities. Callers are not required to identify themselves. Armed bank robbery is a violent crime and the public should use caution and not attempt to detain any robbery subjects. |
