PHOENIX, Ariz. – John Shriner, director of physical security for Wells Fargo, announced today that Wells Fargo is offering an additional $50,000 reward* for original information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of those responsible for the Oct. 19, 2007, robbery of a Wells Fargo Community Banking store at 8670 S. McClintock Drive in Tempe. This reward is in addition to the $50,000 reward publicized by Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge John E. Lewis at yesterday’s press conference, for information leading to the arrests and convictions of those responsible. During the early morning hours of Oct. 19, three male subjects abducted an employee of McClintock Drive Wells Fargo location, from the employee’s home. The employee was taken to the bank, where the three subjects held the employee until other employees arrived, who also were held and forced to provide access to the bank vault. At approximately 8:15 a.m., after collecting a significant amount of money, all three subjects left the scene without harming any of the victims. All three subjects are believed to be white males in their mid 20s to late 30s. One subject was wearing a plain dull wedding band and was wielding a black handgun with a chrome colored slide. This subject is about 6feet tall with a slim build, brown eyes and brown eyebrows. Two individuals wore black tactical-style clothing, while another subject posed as a construction worker wearing a mustard-yellow construction hard-hat and reflective vest. The subjects were driving a white or silver colored 2001-2008 Plymouth or Chrysler mini-van with the rear seats removed. The FBI is investigating another possible attempted robbery that involved a home invasion on the evening of Oct. 17 in Chandler, Arizona. The FBI is working jointly with local law enforcement agencies and Wells Fargo investigators to identify and apprehend these subjects. All three subjects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information concerning these robberies is urged to call the Phoenix FBI Field Division at 602-279-5511 or their local authorities. Callers are not required to identify themselves. Armed bank robbery is a violent crime and the public should use caution and not attempt to detain any robbery subjects. *A Wells Fargo reward is paid for original information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a criminal suspect. Wells Fargo, in its sole discretion, will decide who is entitled to a reward and in what amount. Wells Fargo may pay only a portion of the maximum reward offered. The decision will be based primarily upon law enforcement’s evaluation of the value of the information provided. When there are multiple claimants, the reward will be shared in amounts determined by Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo team members are not eligible for the reward. This reward offer is good for one year from the date it is first offered unless extended by Wells Fargo. |
