FBI; WORKING TO SECURE THE SAFETY OF CHILDREN HERE AND ABROAD

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge John E. Lewis, announced today the arrest of Thomas Henthorn, age 65, of Huachuca City, Arizona, which led to additional arrests in London by British law enforcement.

On July 6, 2007, the FBI conducted an online undercover investigation involving the transmission of child pornography. The FBI was able to download child pornography from the computer of Thomas Henthorn of Huachuca City, Arizona. A Federal search warrant was executed at Henthorn's residence on August 30, 2007 and Henthorn was subsequently arrested and charged in a complaint with Possession of Child Pornography on November 2, 2007.

As with many such cases in which children are sexually exploited, the FBI takes care to further these investigations to identify other predators or victims. Once Federal search warrants were executed on Henthorn's e-mail accounts, information from these e-mail accounts revealed Henthorn communicated with and received child pornography from an individual later identified by the FBI as Chris Oxtoby of Northampton, England.

Specifically, the FBI discovered a video of Katie Scott, who lived with Oxtoby, engaging in sexual acts with a young child. This information was passed to British law enforcement through the FBI's Legal Attache in London, and British police executed a search warrant at Oxtoby's home. They arrested Oxtoby and Scott for sexually assaulting a child and producing child pornography. British authorities also removed three young children from the home.

Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge stated, "This investigation is an example of the FBI's commitment to protecting children from sexual abuse and battling the dissemination of child pornography via the Internet. The FBI's commitment does not end at the borders of the United States as the Internet has no borders. It is the FBI's privilege to work with our international partners in England where three children were rescued and their abusers brought to justice."
