PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge John E. Lewis, would like to thank all media outlets that have assisted in the search for fugitive William Pumphrey, age 50. Several important leads have come into our office, however, the FBI and local authorities continue to look for Pumphrey, and four year old Joshua.

Due the nature of Pumphrey’s transient life style, locating birth records for Joshua proved difficult. Several leads provided to our office as a result of the media attention led agents to Wisconsin where birth records indicate Joshua is William Pumphrey’s son. However, William Pumphrey remains a fugitive and the FBI continues to look for William Pumphrey as well as Joshua, due to William Pumphrey’s fugitive status and his transient lifestyle.

Additional leads have revealed that William Pumphrey visited the Veterans Administration in Prescott Arizona on March 3, 2007. Joshua was not seen with Pumphrey on that date. Additional information indicates that Pumphrey travels to and from Veterans Administration Offices, churches, and missions, seeking housing and other handouts.

The FBI continues to search for William and Joshua Pumphrey, as does the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Photographs of William and Joshua can be reviewed by the public on NCMEC’s website, www.missingkids.com. Any additional media attention to this matter is appreciated, as it will continue to generate information from the public.
