PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge John E. Lewis, announced today, November 28, 2007, that the FBI is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a bank robber responsible for two robberies. On November 20, 2007, an unknown White male robbed the Washington Mutual Bank on Arizona Avenue in Chandler, Arizona. On November 24, 2007, it is believed this same individual robbed the Wachovia Bank on Alma School Dr. in Mesa, Arizona. In both of the robberies the subject confronted the victim tellers displaying a dark semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. The subject is described a White male, approximately 5’9 to 5’10, skinny build, wearing a black ski mask, long-sleeve blue shirt, and dark gloves. The vehicle is described as a newer model, dark grey Nissan sedan, possibly an Altima, with tinted windows. The license plate was removed during the robbery. The FBI believes the subject may live and/or work in the East Valley, likely South of Southern Avenue, East of the 101, North of Warner Road, and West of Stapley. The FBI is working jointly with the Chandler Police Department and the Mesa Police Department to identify and apprehend the subject. Anyone with information concerning these robberies or the subject pictured in the bank surveillance photographs is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Office of the FBI at (602) 279-5511, or their local authorities. Callers are not required to identify themselves. Armed bank robbery is a violent crime and the public should use caution and not attempt to detain any robbery subjects. |
